Wow 2016 !!!!! Hoping you all had a wonderful holiday season and here is to making 2016 , everyone's best year yet !
The entire staff would like to thank everyone for all the generous gifts and cards , we were all truly touched !Don't know about anyone else , but I am really looking forward to getting back into the swing tomorrow , my body cannot handle one more cookie !!!!!
We have some dates for everyone to put in their calendars.
-Easter Break this year will be Friday March 25 - Friday April 1 . Classes will resume on Saturday April 2nd
Picture dates this year will be held on 2 separate weekends.
- all competiton dancers will take pictures on March 12 and 13
-all non competitive dancers will take pictures on April 2 and 3
Of course if you cannot come on your designated weekend , please let us know and we will try and fit you in to the other dates.
I will be sure to let you know when the sign up sheets are going up.
-Costumes
Make sure your costume balance is paid in full or you may not have a costume for pictures ! Costumes are ordered in bulk and if your bill is not paid , your costume will not be ordered. Shipping fees are outrageous and delivery dates get pushed back when costumes are ordered separately.
Before break , our competition team had a Christmas party and collected gifts for " Joeys Little Angels" .
I know a lot of you are aware of this local non profit organization , our gifts were donated to children who are hospitalized over the holidays . We are hoping that we can do a bigger toy drive next year with the whole school .
Note , we are open for Martin Luther King Day and Presidents weekend.

Fall is finally here and our dancers are hard at work with new routines for the new season . I love seeing everyone back and hard at work ! We are off Monday October 31 for Halloween . All dancing ghouls and goblins are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to class this week . A haunting time will be had by all !!! Important dates and studio closings are now updated on our Dates section of the website . Picture dates are also posted . We are happy to announce that we will be doing group shots this year for ALL classes. Your group shots will be displayed in our annual program book . Dates and times for groups will be announced as we get closer to sign ups. For your convenience , we will also be doing online sign ups this year for pictures and will let you know when that will be available . We are now on Instagram , so check us out and Follow Us . You never know when a picture of your dancer may appear ! Last weekend , some of our dancers attended DMA workshops and scholarship auditions . Our dancers were all fabulous and made me very proud !!! Many of our dancers got stand out awards in class and we won numerous scholarships. Jr. tap winner ….Julia Machulsky Teen Jazz winner …. Ava Nicolo Congrats to all !!!!! We are happy to tell you that Kayla's Kids is up and running …. and the kids are loving it ! If you know of a young dancer who would benefit from this program , call the office or stop by the new building on Mondays between 3:30 and 5. Everyone be safe on Halloween and remember to wear those costumes this week !!!!
We are so excited to announce that we will be holding dance classes for special needs children this year ! Our classes will meet on Monday evenings , and will be taught by Kayla Potena. Kayla is not only a dance teacher on our faculty , but also taught special education in the Lawrence school district . Kayla is a new mom who is looking forward to getting back in the classroom to share her love for dance . Please forward this information to anyone who may be interested in this wonderful new program . Call the studio for scheduling and more info ! We look forward to meeting all our new dancers !!!!! Enjoy your last lazy days of summer guys …. we are back on the dance floor on Saturday September 10th Happy Labor Day to All !
Happy Summer !! Hope everyone is having a wonderful couple months in the sun ! We will be having registration for our up and coming season …… August 9-10-11-16-17-18 from 5:30-7:30 Classes are filling quickly , so get in and get your spot in class ! Fall classes will begin on Saturday September 10th All you acrobats that are in awe of these olympics , your classes will begin on that day ! Go USA !!!!! Stay tuned for next years dates and updates . Can't wait to see you on the dance floor !!! Hello everyone ! After a busy winter filled with dance conventions , choreography , costuming and tons of rehearsals , we are finally embarking on our competition season ! Our first studio competition, " Groove" is this weekend, March 4-6 at Robbinsville High School . This is a great time to come out and support your studios dancers. Wear your SJDA apparel and represent !!! It is a local event and we kick off the weekend with teen solos all night on Friday and our Company production starts off Saturday morning at 8 am . Good luck to all our dancers , i cannot wait to see you all up on that stage !!! Tomorrow is March 1st , and that means it is observation week again . We will have our final observation week from tomorrow through next Monday. We are also doing dress rehearsals this week for competition , so all dads , be aware that you will be asked to leave if the girls are changing during that class time . Please be aware that space is limited in the classrooms , so please, just parents are allowed in . Picture Time !!! We are having our annual studio pictures done soon . Sign up sheets are at the front desk with paper info . Most of the times are already filled , so we have added time on Monday April 4th and Saturday April 16th . If you have a young child that is not in school , there is plenty of availability during the day on Monday the 4th. Our yearbook ad papers are also available at the front desk at this time . If your ads are prepared at the time of pictures , you can pick your pictures and place ads at the same time ! When placing ads this year , if your sponsor business has a website , please put down the address on your ad sheet so we can link to it from the SJDA website. All our new SJDA apparel is on sale . We have some great items this season , from hoodies with your name , to cotton and lycra leggins . Get them while you can !!! See everyone this week !!
Welcome back !!! Hoping everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends . I don't know about you all ,but i am ready to get back in that studio to work off my mother inlaws crazy good stuffing !! Observation begins on Tuesday December 1st . Please take note that we do not have room for more then 2 parents per dancer . Young children will have to stay in the dressing room because they are a distraction and there is no room in the class for them . Please also note that drinks and food should be attended to while in the dressing room . Treat our carpets like they are yours at home please !!!!! Our new SJDA apparel is in !!! Place your orders for great holiday gifts while you are in for observation week . We have samples in the main building so you can check out styles and sizes. This winter we have pullover hoodies ,personalized on the back , long sleeve T's , lycra and cotton leggins with SJDA on the leg . We also have our nylon logo jackets , zips and black sweats if you need new ones. We have had requests for new backpacks , we will keep you posted on that ! All recital costume fees are due before the winter break . To ensure that we get all costumes in for picture day and competitions , we need to order ASAP. Please note that if your costume bill is not paid and your child is not measured , your costume will not be ordered. Looking forward to a great season and fun week of observation !!!
Happy Veterans Day ! We would like to thank all our servicemen and women who have served our country . We will be holding classes tomorrow , Wednesday November 11 . Hope you all had a spooktacular Halloween ! We had so many adorable dancers come to class , we had a great week . Our next break will be on Wednesday November 25 - 29 for Thanksgiving . Please take note that all costume papers have gone home with your children. Please take note of the date that your payment is due. All payments must be in by the date posted or costumes will not be ordered . All students must be measured so please make sure that they are measured within in the next month . Also , do not forget that our first observation week is coming ! The first day is Tuesday December 1 and all are welcome to come and observe. Please note that we do not have a lot of room , so 1 parent is welcome and please limit the children you bring. Good luck to our soloists who are starting their season this weekend !!!!
BOO …… Only a few days til Halloween !!! All of our tiny tots , kindergarten classes and tot hoppers are welcome to come in costume this week and next week . We love to see our little ones in costume !!! Speaking of Halloween , we are open on Saturday for all classes. Our DMA convention and scholarship weekend was a great success. We are very proud of all our dancers , they all did great ! The dancers took 4 classes in the morning and many of them stood out in class and won free class scholarships . Those who won these were , Justin Gazzillo , Olivia Migliacci , Alessa Manuolo , Taylor Nelson and Lauren Johnson . If i left anyone out , please let me know so you can be recognized . In the afternoon , the kids competed in 4 more classes . Our winners were , Teen Tap Cayla Rae Pavol , Senior Acro Amy Oliver , Senior Tap Marissa Chiarello , Senior Jazz Sara Rivera and the overall Teen winner was Taylor Spolitino . Congratulations to you all !!!! Our next DMA workshop will be held the end of January and our very own Tyler Stewart will be teaching !! Hope to see you all in costume this week !! Don't forget to turn those clocks back on Sunday ( that gives you an extra hour of trick or treating ) !!!
Attention all dancers attending DMA this weekend ! Hopefully you have all pre registered at the desk for the classes , we encourage all of you to do the scholarship audition at the end of the day . The classes will take place at Ovations Dance Studio in Oaklyn NJ , this Sunday October 25th. Make sure you bring plenty of water for the day. Registration begins at 7:45 for Senior students , ages 14 and up . First class is ballet and begins at 8:30 Registration begins at 8:15 for Teen students , ages 11-13 . First class is tap and begins at 9:00 Registration begins at 8:15 for Junior students , ages 7-10 . First class is musical theater and begins at 9:00 All levels have 4 classes and finish at 1:00. If you are doing the scholarship auditions , they begin at 2:00 . Please have lunch ready for your kids when they are done so they can fuel up for the auditions . All competitors must wear pink tights , black leotard and hair neatly in a bun . No hair accessories or earrings are allowed. Make sure you get a number for them to wear during the audition. They will be at the registration desk that morning. Good luck to all our dancers this weekend !!!!!! We have our 2016 recital dates June 25 and June 26 Keep these dates free !!!!! We are getting together new SJDA apparel so keep an eye out for some great new items . They make great Christmas gifts ! What a wonderful turn out from our studio at the Bad Boys of Ballet show this weekend !!! I think i can speak for all who went , it was wonderful to see Tyler on that stage . He truly was incredible !!!! I posted some pics in the gallery . DMA scholarship day is quick approaching , Sunday October 25th at Ovations Studio in Oaklyn , NJ. If you are planning on competing with your solo at the DMA competition this year , you must attend TWO workshops . Class and scholarship fees are due by next week. We encourage all our students to attend these conventions , they are 1 day , 40 minutes away and not very expensive ! Beyond the Stars and Onstage America entry fees , for solos that are competing in November , are due this week . This is not a mandatory competition , if you are interested , please bring in your entry fees this week . Thank goodness the sun is finally shining and Jaoquin decided to " go north " ! Here's hoping you all have a dry week ! Happy Dancing !!!!
Happy Fall Everyone ! We are in our 3rd week of the new season and hopefully we have all figured out our new schedules by now ! How wonderful to see all our returning dancers come in with smiles on their face and their new leos on . Remember as it gets colder out , to please make sure you go home with your jackets on... I could start a consignment shop with all the North Face jackets in the dressing room left each day !!! Not to mention UGGS left behind as well . The kids are sweaty , tired and hungry when they are done. They finish class , grab their bags ( and phones ) and run out ! Speaking of running out , we have terrible traffic in our parking lots at certain times , which leads to some angry parents , yikes ! Please , when picking up or dropping off , be aware that there is probably someone trying to either get in or out , so please kiss the kids and move on . A better flow of traffic is good for everyones stress level !!! Also , be aware that there are always people crossing to get from building to building , we need everyone safe ! Our new staff pictures and resumes are up !!! Please feel free to check everyone out and see who we are and who is teaching your children . It is quite a fabulous group , we are very fortunate to have each and every one of their talents !! I have also updated the dates page with competition dates , convention dates and watching week . Please get these dates in your calendars , they are very important . The conventions are open to any student at the studio , so if you are interested in attending any , just let us know . The conventions are wonderful weekends filled with knowledgeable teachers and some celebrities as well . Might i say that our moms enjoy them as much as the kids !!!! hahaha If anyone is free this Sunday October 4th. Tyler Stewart , aka " Mr. Tyler , is dancing with " Rock the Ballet " / Bad Boys of Dance at Kean University . The show is 3 pm and there just may still be some tickets available . ( Our staff purchased half the orchestra , lol ) . It is going to be a fantastic show !!!!! Enjoy this lovely weather and stay dry. This week look likes a wet one !!!!
